Widely considered the "guitar player's guitar player," Hubert Sumlin's place in the blues world and music history is incalculable. Hubert Sumlin, in force with Howlin' Wolf, changed the sound of American music and absolutely influenced modern Rock and Roll. Hubert fathered the sound of many modern guitar players like Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Bob Weir, Warren Haynes and others. "The Red Rooster," "Backdoor Man," "Shake for Me," "Killin' Floor," "Smokestack Lightnin'," "Sittin' on Top of the World," and "Whose Been Talkin'," are songs easily recognizable from cover version by Cream, the Doors, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones and the Allman Brothers Band.  Hubert has been a favorite of the ABB, sitting in every March when they come to play the Beacon theatre.

This Album features 10 original compositions of raw, unadulterated Sumlin. His unpredictable, explosive playing style was enriched by the exceptional band led by Jimmy Vivino, of whom Hubert remarked, "Vivino felt my mind." Hubert is a true originator of blues composition and is one of the last living connections to an era that produced so much brilliant music. In the words of the late Stevie Ray Vaughan: "Hubert is the heaviest, most original guitar player I've ever heard in my life - and that's the truth!" AMEN!
