  • Hittin' the Note Records Pre-sale for Tommy Talton CD!
  • Live Wire Music Hall Lights Up Savannah!
  • Mountain Jam Final Lineup!
  • The Day Celebration Is Coming!
  • Wanee!

Hittin' the Note Records is honored to announce our very first CD release featuring former Cowboy guitarist, songwriter and vocalist, Tommy Talton. For those of you already familiar with the work of this insightful artist, Tommy Talton in Europe will be as comfortable and memorable as the records you've worn out. For those of you not familiar with Tommy Talton, he was the lead guitarist on Gregg Allman's legendary Laid Back CD and The Gregg Allman Tour release. Trust us when we say you need this CD!

The 13 tracks assembled for Tommy Talton in Europe offer an insightful strut through material as complicated and sundry as the man himself, culminating near the dusty intersection of soul, blues and Southern-tinged roots rock. Throughout the CD, Talton delivers a cool, genuine old school aura that is both natural and refreshing. Talton does his own thing in his own way and at his own pace, which has been this old Cowboy's stock-in-trade all along.

Tommy Talton in Europe is scheduled to be released in early May, but everyone that pre-orders during the next two weeks will receive an autographed CD and will be entered into a raffle to win a framed, hand-written song lyric sheet by Tommy Talton. Click here to check out the song samples and to order!

For all you MySpacers, you can find Tommy at www.myspace.com/tommytaltonband. For booking the Tommy Talton band, contact Terry Reeves at www.musicmattersentertainment.net.

Folks in Savannah will want to take notice of a very special night at the brand new Live Wire Music Hall on April 19th. The Tommy Talton Band will be performing a show full of his timeless favorites for an Earth Day celebration supporting the Savannah Riverkeepers. This good cause and Tommy's unique stage presence and easygoing musical mastery should make for a very special musical experience.

For those who haven't heard, Live Wire is a new music venue located right on River Street in downtown Savannah. They have been working with our friends at Music Matters Entertainment to bring you lots of HTN-approved shows to the Savannah area, so make sure to go out and support them. They recently hosted HTN favorite Tinsley Ellis and have the Codetalkers coming next week, so you know we agree with their taste! Click here to find out more about this exciting new venue.

Now that Wanee has happened in all of its magnificent glory (see below for details) the next event we're looking forward to at HTN is The Day Celebration, May 8-10, 2008 in "the real" Buckhead, Georgia - 30 minutes south of Athens and 50 minutes east of Atlanta on I-20. The original lineup of Blueground Undergrass will be there, as will Col. Bruce and the Quark Alliance, DubConscious, the Lee Boys and many, many more great artists. This is truly an intimate festival, and it should be a wonderful time. Earlybird campers who arrive Thursday, May 8 will be treated to a free Thursday Music Showcase, which was just recently announced. The Showcase lineup includes the Planet Riders (w/ Mark Van Allen from Blueground Undergrass) and the Dappled Grays. What a bonus! For more info click here.

Here is a link to a recent Quark Alliance show featuring the great Jimmy Herring, just to show you how smokin' hot this band is right now...

Here is a tasty sample of Blueground Undergrass Version 1.0...

And of course, here is our favorite local blues goddess, Donna Hopkins...

Looks pretty nice, doesn't it? What's that, you've decided you want to go? We knew you would come around! Look for the HTN booth at the festival, which is sure to be three days full of celebration and music!

If you're looking for the perfect souvenir of Wanee 2008, look no further! We now have colorful posters featuring the artwork from this year's festival. This whimsical image reminds us of the beautiful trees at Spirit of Suwannee Music Park, and makes us look forward to Wanee 2009! Click here to order yours today!

Wanee is gone, but certainly not forgotten. Although everyone missed Gregg Allman's irreplaceable presence, this year's festival was still arguably the best yet. The ABB extended family came together in a spirit of harmony and healing to celebrate Gregg and his legacy at the Family Jam, and everyone from Levon Helm to JJ Grey and Mofro, Randall Bramblett to the Greyboy Allstars kicked serious butt. Be sure to visit our website next week to check out our Photo Gallery and relive the glory that is Wanee!!
