Pre-Sale For New Xmas Jam Compilation!
For over 20 years, Warren Haynes' Christmas Jam has been one of the premier musical events in the world. The annual event brings together an incredibly diverse lineup of top-notch musicians, with all the proceeds going to Habitat For Humanity, and every year the Xmas Jam produces more than its share of unique collaborations and red-hot jams.

Over the past few years, Warren and the good folks at Evilteen Records have started going through the Christmas Jam archives and releasing some of the shows on CD and/or DVD. We are delighted to announce we are now taking orders for the latest installment in the series, Warren Haynes Presents The Benefit Concert Vol. 3!

Volume 3 is full of powerhouse performances from the likes of Phil and Friends, Drivin' n' Cryin' and Blues Traveler, plus a great Gov't Mule show with a rotating cast of all-star bass players. This show happened during the transition period following Allen Woody's death, when Mule toured with several different bassists, and both Oteil Burbridge of the Allman Brothers Band and Dave Schools of Widespread Panic are featured here. Check out Oteil's jazzy runs on "Sco-Mule," or Schools' massive, Woody-esque bottom end on "Blind Man In The Dark." Smokin'!

This 2001 Xmas Jam also took place during the "Golden Age" of Phil Lesh and Friends, the widely-praised "Phil Lesh Quintet" of Lesh, Haynes, Jimmy Herring, Rob Barraco and John Molo. The "Loose Lucy>Tennessee Jed" sequence captured here is ample proof of why many people think this was the best incarnation of Phil and Friends to ever hit the stage.

That doesn't even cover the great acoustic blues by Alvin Youngblood Hart, or Warren's emotional guest appearance on Blues Traveler's "The Mountains Win Again." There is a lot to love here, from Hart's "Mama Don't Allow," which opens Disc One, to the all-star free-for-all on Neil Young's "Rockin' In The Free World" that brings Disc Two to a rousing conclusion.

As if that isn't enough, everyone who pre-orders through HTN gets a chance to win one of three signed Xmas Jam posters! These beauties are rare enough without the signature, and we thank the folks at Evilteen Records for making them available and getting them signed by Warren. We know that our folks love these kind of extras, and we're happy to bring you this special offer.

Mountain Jam!
Here at Hittin' the Note, our yearly calendar revolves around a few major events. The Allman Brothers Band's annual March residency in New York and the Wanee Festival in Florida in April are two big cornerstones, and Mountain Jam in Hunter, NY is the other. This great festival is only two weeks away, and it's time to get excited! With no further ado, here are our Top 5 reasons to go to Mountain Jam.

1. Levon Helm - As New Orleans icon Allen Toussaint said at Jazz Fest, "Levon Helm is an American treasure." His festival-closing set on Sunday is sure to be a legendary performance, with an eye-popping list of special guests including Steve Earle, Donald Fagen, Sam Bush, Ray LaMontagne, Jackie Greene, and of course, last but not least, Warren Haynes.

2. Mule, Mule, Mule - This is your best chance for a Gov't Mule fix all year, with four sets full of hard-rocking, Warren-fueled awesomeness. Since Warren is the unofficial host of Mountain Jam, these Mule performances always seem to feature a little something extra, with unusual covers and special collaborations with other Mountain Jam artists highlighting the fact that this isn't an ordinary Mule show.

3. Late Nights In The Lodge - Who cares if it's chilly outside when you're raging at 3 AM in the lodge with bands like Lettuce and The New Mastersounds? Make sure to pace yourself and catch one of these, if only so you can check out the Lodge and enjoy the special vibe of these late night shows.

4. Derek and Susan - The new collaboration between Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi is only playing a few select dates this year, making every performance a special occasion. As anyone who saw their set at Wanee can tell you, Derek and Susan are on to something with this new project, mixing funk, soul, blues and rock into their own family recipe.

5. Diversity - Few musical festivals can rival the range of music offered by Mountain Jam this year. From old-school rock legend Dave Mason and reggae pioneer Toots Hibbert to the bluegrass stylings of Yonder Mountain String Band and Alison Krauss and Union Station, Mountain Jam has something for everyone!

Win A Warren Haynes Custom Les Paul!
To conclude the Warrenpalooza section of our email, check out the beautiful guitar on your right. Pretty sweet, isn't it? Warren certainly deserves his own Les Paul model, and we are thrilled and proud that he has finally been recognized by Gibson to be one of the rare few guitarists selected to have their own signature LP.

Even better, one of these elegant guitars will be given away to one lucky fan as part of a special promotion set up by Mountain Jam, Gibson, and Mr. Haynes.

This remarkable instrument comes with a certificate of authenticity, signed by Warren himself, and is guaranteed to sound even better than it looks! It also comes with the deluxe carrying case seen in the picture. If you want a chance to win this amazing guitar, click here for details on how you can win.

Good luck, and congrats in advance to the lucky winner!
