Check Out Song Clips From Tedeschi Trucks Band and Pre-Order Revelator!
After the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s triumphant performance at the Wanee Festival, we’re even more excited about the release of their debut album Revelator!  Derek and Susan have put together a true all-star band, and on top of that they have written some great songs that are sure to stand the test of time.  Tunes like “Midnight In Harlem” and “Standing On The Edge of Love” are the kind of instant classics that sound familiar the very first time you hear them.

If you haven’t heard this exciting new music yet, we now have song clips up on our website!  While you're at it, you might want to check out the nifty video about the making of Revelator that you can view on our site.   Once you hear how good this music sounds, we know you will want a copy of your own.

Don’t forget, everybody who orders through HTN gets a free digital copy of the next issue of Hittin’ the Note magazine, with an in-depth story about Tedeschi Trucks Band.  You will also get advance downloads of three songs before the June 7th release date.

Wakarusa Festival!
Over the years, Wakarusa has become one of the premier music festivals in America. The event has really blossomed since moving to the gorgeous Mulberry Mountain site in Arkansas a few years back, and they consistently bring one of the most varied and talented lineups of any festival around.

This year promises more good times and great music up amidst the spectacular scenery of the Ozarks, including many HTN favorites. Grace Potter, the North Mississippi Allstars, and Umphrey's McGee have all been the subject of in-depth features in Hittin' the Note magazine - and all three play on Thursday alone at Wakarusa!

The rest of the weekend is jam-packed, in more ways than one. It's tough to beat Wakarusa for sheer quantity of music, with performances beginning before noon and lasting until 7:30 AM! They do this without sacrificing quality, with the likes of JJ Grey and Mofro, Galactic, Ben Harper and Relentless 7, STS9, and My Morning Jacket performing over the course of the weekend. Reggae legends Toots and the Maytals, hot bluesgrass from Cornmeal, a late night set from Grateful Dead re-enactors Dark Star Orchestra, the rustic sounds of Grammy-nominated Brits Mumford and Sons-There really is something for every music lover at Wakarusa.

New Merch Update!

It’s a good time for new merchandise at Hittin’ the Note, with several new items in our New Stuff section we thought you might like to know about.

First off, we are proud to bring you a CD by Scott Boyer of Cowboy and his band The Decoys!  All My Friends is the name of the CD, and it features such Boyer classics as “Please Be With Me” and the title track, with an all-star band including such talented players as Butch Trucks, Randall Bramblett and Chuck Leavell!  This lost classic from 1991 has been hard to find, but we are now proud to carry it at HTN.  We’re thrilled with the response to the recent Cowboy Reunion 2010 CD, and if you love the clever songwriting, penetrating vocals and captivating guitar work of Scott Boyer, this is one album you need to own.  Click here to add this CD to your collection!

Speaking of Randall, we are also happy to announce a new live DVD from the versatile and multi-talented Mr. Bramblett. Live at the Rialto Room is a stripped-down, intimate affair that focuses mainly on the piano-oriented material from Randall's recent solo album The Meantime. Randall himself calls this February 13th, 2010 show "one of the most beautiful performances of my career." Special bonus material includes four videos from the sessions for The Meantime. Sophisticated songwriting, heartfelt vocals and mastery of the keys make this a must-have for any Randall Bramblett fan! Click here to order the Rialto DVD.

Bobby Whitlock was an integral member of Derek and the Dominos, and was present for the historic meeting of the minds between Eric Clapton and Duane Allman that produced Layla and other Assorted Love Songs, one of rock's masterpieces. For the first time, Whitock has told his story in depth and in detail in the new book A Rock ‘n' Roll Autobiography. You may have read an excerpt in the last issue of Hittin' the Note, but you will want to get the full story, including Bobby's insightful and unique perspective on Duane Allman. Click here to order your copy today!

Last but not least, we have several new t-shirts, including a Gregg Allman shirt from his recent tour, and our first ever Tedeschi Trucks Band shirts! The maroon "instrument" shirt is different from any other Gregg shirt we offer, with an intricate line drawing of various musical instruments. The TTB shirts, appropriately enough, come in both men's and women's styles. Both shirts are brown, with a swirly band name logo. Click here for the Gregg shirt, or here for the TTB shirts.

As always, check out New Stuff for the latest and greatest!

Beacon CDs In Stock and Shipping Now!

Last but certainly not least, now is a good time to say that we have the 2011 Beacon shows in stock and shipping now!  This great run of shows was a welcome return to the venue the ABB have played more than anybody else, 200 times in all.  As usual, all 13 Beacon shows were unique, with no two setlists even close to the same, and the band was on fire and sounding great.  Click here to check out the individual setlists and see which of these shows you can’t live without!

One quick note: Because the 2011 Beacon Box Set includes the ABB Wanee shows for free this year, it will be a while before we start sending those out. Keep in mind that Munck Music (who does the mixing, mastering and manufacturing) is still at Jazz Fest in New Orleans, and it could be a few weeks before we get the Wanee shows in. We hope to get the 2011 Beacon Box set out by late May or June.

Thank you for your support of Hittin' the Note, and of all the wonderful artists whose music we cover. Please continue to support live music whenever you can!
