Red Dog Benefit Now Available For Download!
Now that the dust has cleared and we have time to put things in perspective, the Red Dog Benefit concert seems like a dream. It was such a perfect day of music and brotherhood, it's almost hard to believe it really happened.

It did happen, though, and we have proof! Now you can download some of the hottest performances from this special night and relive the magic all over again. From Davin McCoy's heartfelt "Let Me Love You" that opens the download to the soon-to-be-legendary 14-minute version of "Dreams" that closes it out, this is exceptional music.

McCoy has made his mark as one of the best young singer-songwriters on the scene, and he won a lot of new fans with his performance, which features special guest Yonrico Scott on drums on "Let Me Love You." Tommy Talton and Randall Bramblett sit in with Davin on the moving "Grave Song." Randall does a great job on his tune "Nobody's Problem" and Tommy puts his heart and soul into "Give a Little Bit."

Still, nothing will prepare you for the big finish, with the Tommy Talton band joined by Randall Bramblett and former Allman Brother Chuck Leavell! These three are a musical Dream Team, and when they join forces, the results are explosive!

And of course, all profits from the sale of this download will go to help the guest of honor with his medical bills. Red Dog gave so much to the Allman Brothers Band over the years, it's only fair for the ABB community to give back to him in his time of need.

Mark Karan and Roy Jay On Tour In Florida!
Many of you know Mark Karan's soulful guitar playing from Bob Weir & RatDog, but he is much more than just a sideman. HTN reviewed his excellent solo record Walk Through The Fire, about which we said "Karan the singer pulled off everything from New Orleans funk to classic blues to sultry ballads." Mark brings his bluesy and emotive vocals to the stage with a skilled roundtable of musicians in his band Jemimah Puddleduck: Grammy-nominated JT Thomas (Bruce Hornsby) on keys, Bob Gross (Delaney Bramlett/Albert King) on bass, and Billy Lee Lewis (Tommy Castro/Roy Rogers) on drums. Their crowd pleasin' shows feature bluesy, R&B-influenced rock and country soul, mixed in a psychedelic blender.

Jemimah Puddleduck is getting ready to embark on a SE tour, right through the heart of HTN country, and we want you to give him a warm Southern welcome! The Roy Jay Band joins them on this run, opening all the shows. Floridian and singer/songwriter Roy Jay (vocals/rhythm guitar) is joined by John Zias on lead guitar, Dan DeGregory on drums, TJ Glowaki on bass and Kirby Jones on keys. Deadheads will enjoy a few familiar tunes, mixed in with fun originals on this tour hitting Georgia, South Carolina, and all over Florida. The New Universe Music Festival with Jimmy Herring!

If you're a fan of jazz-rock artists like John McLaughlin, you probably already know about Abstract Logix, the independent record label that puts out some of the most challenging and passionate music around. Widespread Panic guitarist Jimmy Herring's recent solo album Lifeboat came out on Abstract Logix, as well as To the One, the latest release from McLaughlin, and the new CD Anomaly from Lenny White, the legendary drummer from Miles Davis and Return To Forever.

On November 20th and 21st of this year, the New Universe Festival puts these talented artists in the spotlight with a weekend of music that is sure to break new ground and blow many minds in the process! The event will be held at the intimate Lincoln Theater in Raleigh, NC. Our very own Jimmy Herring will be there, headlining the first night with his solo band and playing the second night with Lenny White. The one and only John McLaughlin will be playing with his band the 4th Dimension, and also participating in a special "Grand Finale Jam" that will be a tribute to McLaughlin and his music.

That's not all, as the New Universe Festival features such heavyweight musicians as former ARU drummer Jeff Sipe, bassist Matt Garrison, ex-Steely Dan guitarist Wayne Krantz and Indian drumming virtuoso Ranjit Barot. There are rumors of very special guests for this event, so don't miss what is sure to be one of the best weekends of music this year! Click here for details and tickets!

Sarasota Blues Fest!
For years now, the Sarasota Blues Fest has been one of the treasures of the Tampa area, an intimate festival with a hometown feel and big-name talent. This year is no exception, and if you're smart, you'll be at the Ed Smith Stadium Complex in downtown Sarasota on Saturday November 6th! Check out the lineup and prepare to be impressed.

From his days with the original Butterfield Blues Band to his hit records like "Fooled Around and Fell In Love" in the '70s, Elvin Bishop has been a music legend for nearly 50 years now. Familiar to many ABB fans for his guest appearance on "Drunken Hearted Boy," he always brings an authentic country soul to his performance. This should be a very special performance!

James "Trombone Shorty" Andrews may be a young man, but he has already earned a reputation as one of the leading ambassadors of the New Orleans sound. Mixing funk, jazz and rock into a new style he calls "supafunkrock," Shorty is an endlessly charismatic performer who has been thrilling crowds since he was a young child, hence the nickname. Bring your dancing shoes for this set!

That's not all, of course, with the great bluesman Tommy Castro and up-and-coming Hill Country blues duo Moreland and Arbuckle among the many great artists scheduled to appear. Click here for more details, and enjoy the show!
