New CD from Scrapomatic!
Scrapomatic has a new CD out on Landslide Records with an unusual title called I'm a Stranger (And I Love the Night). Scrapomatic has been remarkably consistent through four albums, writing songs that range from tales of sleazy people on the margins of society to confessions of earnest, if strange, feelings of love. They set these tableaus to blends of urban blues, rock and country. Mike Mattison and Paul Olsen are very much at home writing about oddballs, and Olsen is a polished composer who can always take the music for a walk on the wild side while making the result feel completely natural.

I'm a Stranger (And I Love the Night) is Scrapomatic's second album with lead guitarist Dave Yoke, and while this is a songwriters' band, Yoke gets some moments to really shine. New CD from Yonrico Scott!
Yonrico Scott is one of our favorite artists here at Hittin' the Note. He has poured his heart and soul into a fine new recording on Blue Canoe Records called Be In My World. Very special guest include Derek Trucks, Kofi Burbridge, Oliver Wells and Mace Hibbard, along with many other contributors. This second solo effort by Yonrico finds him growing as a songwriter and vocalist and the 12 tracks on this record documents the journey he has made over the last several years. Look for a review of this new CD in the next issue of Hittin' the Note magazine. To listen to song clips and to order please click here.

GABBAfest 2012 - "20 Years of GABBA, 40 Years of Eat a Peach"!
GABBAfest 2012 promises to be one of the best gatherings yet, as the Georgia Allman Brothers Band Association celebrates its 20th year in Macon, GA, which coincides with the 40th anniversary of the release of Eat a Peach, the seminal Allman Brothers Band album. The party starts on Friday October 26 at Macon's Cox Capital Theatre with Berry Duane Oakley's band Kettle of Fish making its GABBA debut. Opening that night will be the incredibly talented Mystery Road, which will perform Eat a Peach in its entirety. On Saturday the 27th, the Sonny Moorman Band will close things out, after the Neal Lucas Band kicks off the night's music. There will be plenty of other cool events as well, including tours of the Allman Brothers Band Museum at the Big House, and most importantly, the fellowship that exists only at GABBAfest.
